What snowboard size should I get? What snowboard brand? Should I buy locally?

First off, you might have a little problem with your board considering your weight. Im also 5'' 8' but im 140 lol. The biggest thing you want to base your descision when it comes to board size is weight, NOT how far up to your nose it comes. I would say get a 148 but it would seem so small, hmm, 148 would be good for you weight but not your height. A 154 would be good with your height so i would say anywhere in between (152 would be my guess). As for what type, i agree with the guy above me on BURTON all the way. Since you have a good amount of money you can get decent gear, I suggest getting models from past years because you will get great deals and its still same quality. I would say dont buy two boards over two years becuase it will cost you more $, like i said get a past model for cheaper. And YES go to your LOCAL shop, thats where your going to find those good past year deals. Hope this helps a little
